God is a Nerd

I can't confirm that he wears glasses or watches Star Trek, but I'm convinced he shows some other classic symptoms of pure nerdism.

I read a book last year that changed the way I though about God and chaos, and it wasn't written by an American preacher with a pinky-ring. It was written by Keith Peters - "Actionscript Animation". Actionscript is a computer programming language but before your eyes glaze over, this is an example of what Actionscript can do. Click "Generate New Walking Insect"

Ok, so basically, those bugs are made with a bunch of mathematical formulas. Its true. Their colour, shape, movement is just maths. I'm no expert, but apparently, everything around us can be reduced to numbers - everything. And apparently, nothing is truly random, only radio-active decay.

So, if you can get over the whole "is there a God" question, which I did a while back, and you attribute him with the creation of everything, which I also did a while back, then you start to see the nerd factor come out pretty strong.

Here's an example of some really simple maths that grows trees:

I can make my head spin trying to absorb just how concrete and organised chaos really is. Its a cool idea and one that gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. There is a reason, a formula, a design for everything. Provided the guy who put it all together is a nice guy, then I guess I can stop worrying altogether.
